We have to believe that Allah is with His servants wherever they are. This companionship is by His knowledge, hearing and seeing. Allah is over His throne. At the same time nothing can be hidden from Him of His servants’ deeds.
Allah says: “There is not a secret consultation between three, but He is the fourth of them, nor between five but He is the sixth, not between fewer nor more, but he is with them” [Sûrah al-Mujâdala: 7]
Allah says: “And He is with you wheresoever ye may be” [Sûrah al-Hadîd: 4]
This kind of companionship applies to all creatures. Whoever says: "Allah is with me" and means that Allah sees him, hears him and knows all his circumstances, then what he says is correct. In fact, this is part of what a Muslim is required to believe.
There is a closer companionship which is exclusively for the pious believers. It provides them with support, preservation and victory by the grace Allah. This is a special companionship. This kind of companionship is not easy to be either achieved or known for a person in particular. No one can say he belongs to this group. However, he may ask Allah to be with him and to consider him one of this group.
When a person is obedient to Allah and feels that Allah is with him and whenever a person trusts Allah, this is a good thing. He should be assured that Allah will not abandon him and that that Allah will always prepare for him a release from all difficulties, protect him from those who would harm him, and save him from whatever he fears. Allah says: “And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him." [Sûrah al-Talâq:3]
Allah says: "And for those who fear Allah. He (ever) prepares a way out.” [Sûrah al-Talâq:2]
And Allah knows best.
